Despite the wet fall, construciton of the building addition is advancing at a steady pace. Already we can see the perimeter walls and retaining walls. The lower floor has been defined and many of the dividing walls of this level have been poured. Steel beams to support the second floor of the addition are being welded into place. Inside the exhisitng building, temporary walls to seperate the renovations from the ongoing operation hold back some of the construciton dust and noise. After weeks of enjoying primarily excavators and concrete formers on site, it's fun to see roofers, electircians, plumbers and block layers joining the fray.

To date: 2400 cubic metres of fill rmeoved and 180 cubic metres of lean concrete poured.

The biggest challenge for the Next Chapter Project has been the amount of top soil and unclean fill discovered under and around the existing academic wing. Every footing and foundation wall has been difficult to place due to the poor soil conditions. Thankfully, Nith Valley Construction and Architecture Incorporated have been very quick and diligent at identifying and addressing these problems.

With most of the excavation complete and the process of laying block and erecting stell well underway, it's exciting to watch the progress that every week brings.
